Smithsonian Craft Show 2011 Video for VOA

I was the subject of a short interview with the Persian News Network PNN at the Smithsonian craft show. The connection is that i am half Iranian. The video was produced by a friend, Shirin Saghaie. I was delighted with the results. As of now the piece has not yet run on Voice Of America.

Interior Design Magazine: New To Market Tabloid

I was looking through some files today and I realized that I had not posted a bit of press that I was very pleased about. I had two pieces included in Interior Design Magazine’s Market Tabloid this year.

The first piece was on page 32 and it featured my White Cast Bench

My Glass Hall Table was included on page 82.

Hamptons Cottages and Gardens- Open Bowls

Hamptons Cottages & Gardens captured a great moment at the Longhouse Reserves Open Bowls exhibit this year. Our boys love the Longhouse but the opening reception was going on a bit long for their attention spans. I was so happy to have a planter just large enough to hold them! They settled in quite well and we all enjoyed the rest of the evening!

Hamptons Magazine: Michael Hennessy Home

There is a nice article in the latest issue of Hamptons Magazine about Michael Hennessy Home in NYC. The gallery is on 207 West 18th Street and features works by artists with a connection to Long Island. I have Outdoor Bench #3 with them and I look forward to a continuing relationship with them.

Interview By Voice Of America

I was approached by a producer of Voice Of America who wanted to interview me while I was participating in the Crafts America Show in Washington D.C.. He explained that the piece was about Iranian Artists who were exhibiting in the show. I had met the producer in New York City when he was producing a documentary on my father, Manoucher Yektai. I reminded him that I did not speak Farsi which meant that my only qualifications were being half Persian and the fact that i was born in Teheran Iran. He told me not to worry and that they would dub in a Farsi voice for me. I took this as an opportunity to be exposed to their audience of 14 million people Iranians both inside and outside of Iran. I also took this as an opportunity to upgrade my voice. I asked for a strong, authoritative voice for the voiceover. Anything is better than my natural voice!

I was happy to participate and to my surprise there were other artists at the show with ties to Iran.
